How we make peace with our past is down to us. There are no hard and fast rules on what or how to do this, it can be different for us all. It can be different depending on where our state of mind and awareness is on the day.
Does making peace mean that we:
Forget our past?
Or forgive?
Or pretend it didn’t happen?
We will all have our own thoughts about this and that’s ok, the last year hasn’t been the best for me for lots of reasons. What happened, happened and I can’t change it, how it affects and impacts me today IS my choice though.
My thoughts about past events are what impacts on me today, whether that be positively or negatively.
It all comes from INSIDE ME.
Knowing that it’s MY THOUGHTS that create the feelings in THIS moment doesn’t mean that everything is hunky dory and I skip around in fields without a care in the world.
BUT what it does do is give me the understanding to be ok however I am feeling in the moment because I know it will pass.
Thoughts and feelings always pass.
Yes sometimes I get hooked by a passing thought or feeling that seems to come from nowhere and I react (not always in a good way) but it doesn’t last as long as it used to.
I KNOW my thoughts create my reality, they create the world I live in, every moment of every day.
Sometimes I ‘let my past screw up my present’, I’m human. Sometimes I ‘make peace with my past’.
Knowing YOU have a choice is powerful.
